19 More Free Quality Fonts

Over the last days we’ve decided to take a look at new fonts and choose the most beautiful ones. In fact, many new fonts occured – some of them just weren’t available for download one year ago, some of them were created over the last 12 months.

The results are listed below – the most beautiful fonts, created by the open-source community and free for personal, academic and (sometimes) commercial use. The disclaimers are changing from time to time, so you better first take a close look at disclaimer before using the font in a commercial project. “19 More Best Free Quality Fonts” contains only new fonts. I stumbled onto your site and only have one question: why, in the examples of the fonts, is it always “eight night ten”? I hope I’m not missing something, but it seems to be a glaring, repeated typo, and I’m just the kind of jerk to point it out.

@Managing Editor: you are right. It is a typo. My mistake :) [Vitaly Friedman]

As a dedicated type addict, I try and keep abreast of font offerings, most of which are hardly worth the electrons it takes to post them. Not much of it is original (or well designed), the majority being knock-offs of existing types. Most of those you list here are little more than derivatives of commercial fonts like Garamond, Century and Helvetica all of which are virtually free themselves since they come pre-installed in all computers now.

That being the case, why are you spending time looking for something that you already have for free??
