7 Brilliant Free Fonts: Faceplate, Sling, Cicle
Every month we take a look around, browse through dozens of fonts collections and select most irresistible typefaces released recently. We collect most beautiful high quality fonts, which can be used for private and/or professional projects without any restrictions whatsoever. If you’ve tried to find them once, you know how time-consuming the search can be. Indeed, these beauties can be quite hard to find, but the search is definitely worth it. We search for them. So you don’t have to.

These ARE brilliant indeed! I can find uses for all of them. Thanks!

Thanks for the nice new collection, I was waiting for it. :-)
BUT, it’s very sad that Steiner and Sling doesn’t contain Umlaute! No ÖÄÜß.
I don’t think you can call them high quality with this poor charakter set. - 9June 8th, 2007 11:04 pm
Great fonts :). Especially love the Cicle. Thanks a lot.
- 10June 8th, 2007 11:58 pm
Sling is my favourite too. The way how the font curves, it’s totally attractive and beautiful

Now those fonts look like they really have some potential. Especially Stiener and Sling.
You know, this is getting pretty bad. Everytime you guys dig up some new fonts, I have to fight the urge to go and switch out all the headings at my site. - 14June 9th, 2007 3:51 am
Another great post, Thanks
- 15June 9th, 2007 5:18 am
=) what more can I do.

Although Clan Narrow Bold is clearly an excellent-quality typeface, I must respectfully disagree with your estimation of Sling and Steiner. Sling and Steiner apparently do not contain accented characters. This presents a problem for designers who need to set non-English text with Roman numerals. Sling also appears to be a (scanned? auto-traced?) version of ITC’s Leawood font. Despite this, I find most of the free fonts that you post here rather good, particularly the ones by Manfred Klein and Jos Buivenga.

The fonts are really great and professional.
- 18June 10th, 2007 1:15 am
Sling is certainly a font-rip!
Watch this sreenshot:
http://www.icepic.de/show/zuschneiden.jpg/You can see easily that it’s the same fontface like Leawood.
Please remove this fontwarez!

@KarlH
itc leawood seems to have all straight serifs…
the sling has gorgeous oblique serifs….so they look similar but they are diffrent in some details.
have a closer look :)greetz from berlin and thanks for the font link list
- 24June 12th, 2007 11:35 am
Beautiful fonts. Props!
- 25June 13th, 2007 11:28 am
No, Sling is obviously a copy of Leawood. It’s actually fairly apparent, as Leawood contains a full character set, whereas Sling does not. The original fonts tend to have complete character sets, and the copies often do not.
- 26June 18th, 2007 3:45 pm
Excellent taste in fonts, as usual.
- 27July 1st, 2007 10:26 am
Thank you for removing that Sling typeface!
By the way, I made an error in my earlier comment: I meant to say Roman letters, not Roman numerals.
- 28July 5th, 2007 4:24 pm
