Two Days Left To Enter Guest Author Contest
We would like to remind you that the deadline for our guest author contest is approaching. Best guest articles will be published on Smashing Magazine with the link to the author’s site. The best guest post will be awarded with Apple MacBook Air. Apart from that then further writers will be awarded with designer laptop sleeves, bags and books.
Participation is easy. To get a chance to win one of the prizes it’s enough to submit a short discussion article (max. 1200 characters) or an original and beautiful top-10-list. Further details, rules and awards can be found in the original article. We have received 90 entries so far. Thanks to all participants!
The main idea behind the contest is not to get as many guest articles as possible, but to find talented guest authors who will want to work with us after the contest and get properly paid for their work. If you would like to write for us beyond the contest — drop us a line, we’ll figure something out.
Two days are left. You can submit your article and top-10-list until 23:59, 5th of August 2008.

I have no idea what to write about!
Don’t know if I could do it… But could be fun! I’ve noticed it’s a whole industry…
Perhaps that’s a topic for writing???(!)???Love to see the different articles. :)
Will you only publish the articles, that win prices, or will you also publish articles, that gain nothing?

@Sandie Sørensen: we’ll select most interesting articles, we’ll publish them and then we’ll see how our readers react, whether discussions take place etc.

@ j w: well, according to TimeandDate.com (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=282), Apia (the capital of Samoa) has the biggest time shift (UTC/GMT -11 hours). We’ll accept all entries which will come until 23:59 UTC/GMT + 11.

Wow, anybody can emulate you guys, as far as posting link roundups to good stuff but to actually write something useful, takes a little inspiration and some skills.

I submitted my article a few days ago. It was somewhat over the 1200 character limit, even though I almost cut it down by half of its original size. I hope you guys will still consider it, it’s written professionally and includes nice pictures.

Patience, young padawans. On that note, the word “padawan” isn’t in my dictionary. What sort of archaic dictionary doesn’t have Star Wars words in it? It’s 2008!
Let’s hope they don’t post them too late tonight; us Euro’s might not have as much opportunity to spurn discussion on our relative articles… ;)

@all: we’ll start posting the articles next week. All posts will be published at the same day and on weekdays, so everybody has the same chance of winning. We have come up with a large list of criterion to rate the post; we’ll use them to assign the prizes accordingly.
