Finance and Applications: A Free Icon Set
By Smashing Editorial, October 9th, 2008 in Freebies | 118 Comments | Forum
We are always looking for creative and talented artists and designers. Once we find them, we ask them to cooperate with us and release something for free. We provide them with the full freedom to showcase their professionalism and express their creativity. You can find our previous releases in our section Freebies.
Today we are glad to release Fresh: an application and financial icon set. This set contains 58 raster and vector icons, designed by Icon Eden, the creators of the Bright Icon Set and the Milky Icon Set . The set includes icons in .png, .icns and .ico-formats. An .EPS vector file is available as well.
Download Icons For Free!
You can use the icons for private and commercial projects, blogs and web-sites for free, without any restrictions whatsoever. However, you are not allowed to sell or redistribute the icons without author’s and Smashing Magazine’s permission (one of the icons (09) was removed due to legal issues related with Checkoutapp.com).

Thank you, guys!
Motivation behind the design
This icon set is a fresh and lively collection of 59 high-quality stylish icons in standard sizes ranging from 16×16 to 256×256 pixels. All the icons included in the set have a clean, modern look and have consistency and harmony in both perspective and color. There is also one vector file containing editable EPS icons that can be rescaled to any size while retaining their original detail.
Here are some insights from the designers themselves:
“At Frexy, we love creating high quality free icons. After the launch of Icon Eden, we release the Fresh financial and application addon pack as a dedicated gift for Smashing Magazine’s readers.
The goal of this iconset is to create recognizable, trendy and easy-to-use icons. All the icons are in clean shapes with lively and neutral color scheme, so they will look good on both bright and dark background. You can use the set for websites, web applications, desktop applications or anywhere beautiful icons are essential. I hope you find these icons useful for your work!”
Thank you, guys!

Financial icons? This set definitely misses a “Broker in despair” icon, or “angry irish customer”
:)

After every UK taxpayer paid £18k to rescue the economy the only thing we got back is this (quite nice) icon set…
SiGa (October 9th, 2008, 3:38 am)
I really had to grin… Guess there are actually some people who are in need of that icon with the red arrow to illustrate their financial situation! ;-)
Christoph (October 9th, 2008, 3:55 am)
@Jacob - great for us not living in the UK, just saved £18K then, as I use this for free, too ;)

Awesome, I especially like the two graphs. The red one seems a little too familiar at the moment, let’s hope for blue shortly. Chris

Nice set.
Funny that the green graph is actually going down as well. The arrow points back in time, to the days the stocks were still going strong…
