40 Amazing Online Photography Magazines
Whatever country we live in, we’re probably all familiar with the well-known photography magazines available in our newsagents and bookstores. The UK has Practical Photography, France has Photo, the Italians have Zoom and the Americans have American Photo. What you may not know is that there are many more photography magazines that are only available online. And some of them are good, very good.
That’s the great thing about online publishing. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and just about anyone with a PC and an internet connection can take part. The difficulty lies in putting together a quality publication, something that rivals the best commercial magazines for content and quality (we hope you think that Smashing Magazine just does that!)
As an introduction to the wonderful world of online photography magazines, we put together a list of the biggest and best that we could find. You won’t find these magazines in your local bookstore, they’re only available online. From photojournalism to portraiture, from landscapes to lomography (and everything in between), you’ll find the most amazing photography and discover the work of some of the world’s best photographers, both famous and unknown. Dive in and enjoy their work.

April 20th, 2009 7:14 amA great list, but to leave LensWork (lenswork.com) off the printed or web list borders on criminal (not seriously, but you get the point). Not only is the photography excellent, but the magazine it is exquisitely printed, the ‘Extended’ DVD issues have even more content and thoughtful interviews with the photographers. The website has the best podcasts/commentary on the fine art photo world going. Check it out.

July 23rd, 2010 10:32 pm@ Giovanni Ferrentino
You may read that sentence in at least two ways (words in parentheses are mine):
1. “It’s in Italian, (and you may not understand this language), but (don’t let that stop you because) the photos are amazing.” Or,
2. “It’s in Italian (and Italians may not know anything about anything), but the photos are amazing.” Did you choose #2.
I chose #1.
A bit off topic but relevant: I would like to add (for the article author’s and readers’ benefit) that I use Google Chrome which automatically translates Italian to English for me. Although the translations are far from perfect, they give me a basic idea of the written material. I hate to miss out on all the excellent stuff around the world contributed by non-English speakers, so really appreciate the language translation features of some browsers.
Arrivaderci, my friend.
And then again, I may have completely missed your point!
P.S. WordPress wouldn’t let me delete this comment and put it below Giovanni’s comment (where it was meant to be), so sorry about the incorrect location.

April 21st, 2009 12:38 amWhy on POSI+TIVE you write “It’s in Italian, but the photos are amazing.” ?
