Desktop Wallpaper Calendar: June 2009

Advertisement

Desktop wallpapers can serve as an excellent source of inspiration. However, if you use some specific wallpaper for a long period of time, it becomes harder to draw inspiration out of it. That’s why we have decided to supply you with smashing wallpapers over 12 months.

And to make them a little bit more distinctive from the usual crowd, we’ve decided to embed calendars for the upcoming month. So if you need to look up some date, isn’t it better to show off a nice wallpaper with a nice calendar instead of launching some default time application?

This post features 70 free desktop wallpapers, created by designers across the globe. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free.

Please notice:

  • all images can be clicked and lead to the preview of the wallpaper;
  • you can feature your work in our magazine by taking part in our desktop wallpaper calendar series. We are regularly looking for creative designers and artists to be featured on Smashing Magazine. Are you one of them?

So what wallpapers have we received for June 2009?

Predictable Victory (Summer Solstice)

"June is the month that proudly boasts the longest day of the year (it kind of goes downhill from there). The Sun and the Moon fight it out in a seedy bar and, surprisingly, every summer the Sun wins. The Moon does not mind though – he knows he’ll get his revenge in December." Great job, Everyone! Thank you for your generous contributions.

    Generally speaking, I prefer minimalist wallpapers because when the desktop is too busy, it distracts me from my work. I also like when designers keep the right vertical area clean so that the designs don’t overlap onto the icons (for us Mac users). I wish Smashing Magazine would keep this in mind and place their logo onto the left side of the wallpapers, but that’s my only complaint.

    This month, the two Vlads reign supreme! Vlad Tamas’ “Hello June” and Vlad Gerasimov “Blue Bells” are wonderful. I’ll use Hello June for the weekdays and Blue Bells on the weekends :) Thanks, Vlad and Vlad!

    I put Ribbon Festival on the pc at work. In a school setting, It fits perfectly. My daughters love it and put it on their pc at home. I personally put Black Cat on mine. His smile is just too cool to leave behind.

    Everyone at work appreciates the new calendars every month.

    Other contenders: June Weddings, Swing in the Sun, Strawberries, Cactus, African Violet, and Summer is Here.
