Some of them are good… many are not !!

Brilliant art work! I like the wallpaper taken from “Silent Hill”, there’s a lot of texture on this wallpaper.
- 4June 18th, 2009 1:59 am
god! my head is reeling after looking at these. Few of these like demon forever and Tamayo museum are downright sickening. yuck!
I liked “the black cat” and “reflections” . “Ashes and memories” is subtle yet dark.
….But whats the mcdonald baby doing in here? hehe..funny - 5June 18th, 2009 2:13 am
lol, McDonalds baby!
- 6June 18th, 2009 2:23 am
to be honest: boring and not very interesting. surely a lot of work gathering those, but hmm again no smashing-mag-level.
- 7June 18th, 2009 2:54 am
Does feel like a filler article… what I want to know is how much did someone got paid for writing this?
- 8June 18th, 2009 3:00 am
Sorry, but this one really was a wasted post. I have been a fan now for a while but if this is the direction the site is going…. then I will take my reading somewhere else. Nice attempt, but it really looks like someone was hard up for some content…….. Thanks for the effort…..
- 9June 18th, 2009 3:02 am
These wallpapers are quite amazing, specially “Master Of Fire” and “Bleeding Angel” are mindblowing, thank you for these lovely wallpapers.
- 10June 18th, 2009 3:07 am
this is a bad selection. i love horror but i wouldn’t use any of those wallpapers. many of them are lacking in style and/or technique and i got no clue why they’re appearing on smashingmag.
- 11June 18th, 2009 3:10 am
This is a brilliant selection! Thank you so much for this! Ignore the na-sayers, some really awesome wallpapers in there! Keep up the great work!
- 12June 18th, 2009 3:12 am
You forgot to mention the wallpaper from the movie Död Snö.
- 13June 18th, 2009 3:25 am
Why is this on SmashingMag? Come on, guys… This is really low quality.
- 14June 18th, 2009 3:30 am
sorry that´s not smashing magazine quality as we know it. But only my opinion
- 15June 18th, 2009 3:42 am
Nice collection! Baby Ronald is the scariest one! :)
I think one named “Girl” is of Monica Belucci, in “The Grimm Brothers” movie. And the one named “Horror Wallpaper” is Balrog, from “The Lord of the Rings” movie.

/quoteI pass that..
sorry but these pictures/Wallpapers what ever are useless imho.
And many of them are not really good.. - 17June 18th, 2009 3:54 am
This article is beneath smashingmag standard:
Nearly no Wallpaper in Full HD! Sorry, but this is a no-go.
I love smashingmag wallpaper galleries but this one isn’t what makes me happy. But keep up your great work. Smashingmag rocks!
- 18June 18th, 2009 3:58 am
like the chewing gum one. too bad they are almost all in pretty low resolutions.
- 19June 18th, 2009 4:23 am
Don’t really need something like this on my display…
For great “Creepy” artwork you should look for Heavy Metal bands. There’s some great art!
- 22June 18th, 2009 4:33 am
I think for many people here few of those are of any use. I know I stopped using 1024 about 5 years ago and many of those are based around those low resolutions…
- 23June 18th, 2009 4:47 am
this stuff need to wait until halloween.
- 24June 18th, 2009 5:19 am
Not a fan. Some of this stuff is just down right sick…in a bad way. I Couldn’t even make it through the whole article.
- 25June 18th, 2009 5:20 am
I like the hands in the head (brain)…great collection…
- 26June 18th, 2009 5:25 am
Yawn… c’mon SM…
- 27June 18th, 2009 5:27 am
Slow day at the Mag I assume. Could have taken a 0 off of the 100 there are so many bad examples.
- 28June 18th, 2009 5:44 am
fucking asskissers. this selection sucks.
- 29June 18th, 2009 5:49 am
Well, some cool images (Punisher, yeah!), but that’s not SM standard. Sorry.
- 30June 18th, 2009 5:57 am
The collection seems quite staid. Most seems run of the mill stuff.
- 31June 18th, 2009 6:18 am
great collection
- 32June 18th, 2009 7:18 am
Very cool stuff and great collection!
Excellent work!!
- 33June 18th, 2009 7:34 am
I LOVE horror…but….
seriously? The Hellraiser/Freddy wallpapers that look like they’re made by a 12 year old?
Seriously?
- 34June 18th, 2009 8:23 am
I’m not a horror wallpaper fan but I liked 70% of what I saw there. Guess the naysayers are simply extreme horror lovers who have seen every piece of horror art under the moon and are very critical OR they simply don’t like horror wallpaper and are expressing their displeasure in a general sense.
- 35June 18th, 2009 8:52 am
a definate no-no for me.. this post wd have been apt during halloween..bt nt now..
kittu - 36June 18th, 2009 9:11 am
Yea… not my thing. Just seems like a jumbled collection of anything that remotely fit under the “horror” category.
- 37June 18th, 2009 9:23 am
pretty bogus, smashing
- 38June 18th, 2009 9:24 am
disappointed about this “horror” collection.
- 39June 18th, 2009 10:08 am
I think you guys need to stop posting ‘lists’ of artwork.
its always work that is complete garbage. stick with the web trends, those articles are amazing. or at least get somebody with an eye to build up these lists. - 40June 18th, 2009 12:00 pm
Omg the last one must be the most horrible!
- 41June 18th, 2009 1:36 pm
I agree with the frequent dissatisfaction regarding the overall quality. These are pictures at best, no wallpapers.
- 42June 18th, 2009 1:54 pm
The explosion is sooooo horrific :P
- 43June 18th, 2009 3:03 pm
scary…. some of those are very cool IMO. I don’t think I’ll be using any as wallpaper, but if I want to get really creeped out, baby Ronald will do the trick.
- 44June 18th, 2009 4:39 pm
i want the last few minutes of my life back
- 45June 18th, 2009 5:39 pm
I’m beginning to see a trend here: every 4 or 5 good/great articles, we get “smashed” in the face with a real dud!
And, are those just movie screengrabs? Ugh.
- 46June 18th, 2009 11:38 pm
果然重口味。。。。
- 47June 19th, 2009 12:15 am
nice bunch of crap. c’mon guys 90% of this “art” is rather “fart”.
- 48June 20th, 2009 2:06 pm

- 49June 22nd, 2009 2:28 am

- 50June 22nd, 2009 5:10 am

- 51June 22nd, 2009 7:36 am
I have been looking for months wallpapers and this colleciton is no doubt the best I have seen,
I have just purchased a new PC, can i zip it in one folder for download? - 52June 22nd, 2009 8:45 pm
not a very smashing post from you guys….i can only ask why? with all the great artwork from so many great artist why would you want to show this type of post. Everything has it’s place and this has always been a place i come for inspiration and cool tips/stuff. Today I come to this garbage.
- 53June 23rd, 2009 6:15 pm
long time reader first time poster, and I am posting for a reason. These are horrible and really well below the standards of the smashing magazine that I love. I am not sure what you were thinking, by including this garbage.
Handpicked? By who? Fire them, or send them to design school.
- 54June 24th, 2009 4:20 am
Cool!!
- 55June 24th, 2009 7:25 am
Rubbish!
- 56June 27th, 2009 10:10 pm

- 59
- 60July 3rd, 2009 9:14 pm
so good!
- 61July 9th, 2009 2:57 pm
Good, but I feel…they’re from a large part violent wallpaper, not that much creepy, I feel there’s difference
The last “Monster” is actually Mythic’s Warhammer: Age of Reckoning “Black Guard” artwork
- 62July 12th, 2009 2:38 pm
This post sucks
- 63July 26th, 2009 1:05 pm

A week’s ban for everybody who complained, probably all the small minded web designers who want to pop one off to more 2.0 regurgitation.
Believe it or not there are actually people who can design for many different media’s.
This post would appeal to many a digital artist’s, myself included that love to create image manipulations of this genre to unleash some out of the box creativity that gets boxed up during the week of client based web \ graphic designs.
Some selfish designers out there.
Smash Mag forever!!!
- 71October 13th, 2009 6:37 am
i liked “chewing gum” and “dead silence” much more.
according to my perception most of wallpapers are flamboyant and they have no meaning. - 72October 18th, 2009 7:56 am

- 73October 24th, 2009 12:41 am
