Desktop Wallpaper Calendar: November 2009

Desktop wallpapers can serve as an excellent source of inspiration. However, if you use some specific wallpaper for a long period of time, it becomes harder to draw inspiration out of it. That’s why we have decided to supply you with smashing wallpapers over 12 months.

And to make them a little bit more distinctive from the usual crowd, we’ve decided to embed calendars for the upcoming month. So if you need to look up some date, isn’t it better to show off a nice wallpaper with a nice calendar instead of launching some default time application?

This post features 60 free desktop wallpapers, created by designers across the globe. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free.

Please notice:

  • all images can be clicked and lead to the preview of the wallpaper;
  • you can feature your work in our magazine by taking part in our desktop wallpaper calendar series. We are regularly looking for creative designers and artists to be featured on Smashing Magazine. Are you one of them?

So what wallpapers have we received for November 2009?

[Offtopic: by the way, did you already get your copy of the brand new Smashing Book?]

Jared Spurbeck, you are a bad intolerant netizen. If you are “offended” by some of the wallpapers here, then don’t come here anymore. Your loss, not ours.

Aside from Jared, cheers to everyone for the great designs! Dual Monitors and 320×480! Yey!

      My special mention goes to:

GIVE TANKS (Valerie Morgan -Для родины!)
      BLESS YOU ZEBRA (Drew Gilchrist)
JIMI HENDRIX TRIBUTE (Kevin Harrison -rock on!)
      BONFIRE (Yipori)
      SEASONAL CHANGE (Alexandra Ipate)
CHAMELEON BREAK-UP (Eli, Stefan and Xenia)
      EYECANDY (Justin Wright)

Will be using MONSTER NOVEMBER (SixLightYears) for my staid work PC, N FOR NOVEMBER (Qayum Khan) for my shiny-new home desktop, LONELINESS (Raru) for my emo notebook, DOODLES (Pietje Precies) for my poor battered phone, and sent NEW MOON (eewww) to my Twilight-obsessed niece.

Oh, btw, no commemorative wallpapers for our poor veterans (US, European, Asian, whatever)?

Its is surprising to me that there was only one calendar that made any mention of Rememberance Day / Armistace Day.

Virtually the whole world commemorates it in one form or another as a tribute to those who have served our respective nations in combat and allow us to this day to enjoy the freedom we now have.

Sad to see that from a great cross section of designs from so many people in so many country’s that no one else thought to include it.

Congrats to Autumn Colours (Ducky Design) for your calendar.

Hi! Wow! There are a lot of nice calendars this month as usual. I’m a French-Canadien and it’s cold early this fall. So my prefered this time is “Seasonal change – the transition from autumn to winter just like pages in a book…” Designed by Alexandra Ipate from Romania. I took Romania for October too. Good job!

    Hi,

is it possible to zip all calendar motives into one zip file for downloading? Because with the new Windows 7 it’s possible to mark multiple files to show them in a slideshow as desktop wallpaper.

Because downloading every single wallpaper isn’t very comfortable =)
Perhaps every resolution in one zip archive will be great for monthly releases! :)

There’s some good work here, but there’s also a lot of amateurish designs up there. I know you don’t want to alienate anybody, but you should really filter these, because it’s a real turn off to find crappy work along the way.
