Imperial Porcelain: Free Icon Set
Today we are glad to release Imperial Porcelain Icons Set, a set with 5 beautiful original icons in .png (160×160px). This set was designed by Roman Khramov and released especially for Smashing Magazine and its readers. It can be used in various settings — for instance, on hotel and restaurant websites, in e-commerce-sites or even on food-related blogs.
Download the icon set for free!
You can use the set for all of your projects for free and without any restrictions. You can freely use it for both your private and commercial projects, including software, online services, templates and themes. The set may not be resold, sublicensed, rented, transferred or otherwise made available for use. Please link to this article if you would like to spread the word.

Behind the design
As always, here are some insights from the designer himself:
Icons were made in design of Russian imperial porcelain. We wished to perform this work with humour and in Russian traditions. The icon “partners” is especially distinguished. We tried to pay huge attention to difficult pictures and small details. The icons set is freely available for commercial and non-commercial use, without any restrictions. The set consists of 5 custom-made icons in the resolution 160×160 .png.
Thank you very much, Roman! We appreciate your efforts.

April 8th, 2010 7:18 amAgreed. Another post that might possibly be useful to 0.1% of the population… and even in those cases probably shouldn’t be. But I guess “Free Icon Set” gets them tons of pageviews…
Thanks SM.

April 9th, 2010 1:08 amI actually find those really interesting. You have to think a bit to get to the meaning of each icon, but when you got it, it totally makes sense. :) Very creative!

April 9th, 2010 3:02 amthe designers remark “The icons set is freely available for commercial and non-commercial use, without any restrictions.”
conflicts with the readme.txt file in the zip file ie the “no restrictions” bit while in the read me file you specify that you can not give as download on your own site but rather link to SM website.
While personally I would prefer to link to it on your site can you explain your standing on this besides not wanting other design site to basically rip off your sites content.
Thanks

April 9th, 2010 12:21 pmOther than their size, I fail to see how these function as icons. If you have to spend so much time figuring out what an icon might mean, you might as well just call them little pictures. Thumbs might be a better term.

April 10th, 2010 11:55 amDoes the licence allow me to change them? For example remove the vase with the flowers. I would like to use only these two cups. Thank you for your answer
