December 9th, 2010 6:02 amNice looking theme, but is it really GPL? There are usage restrictions in the license.txt which seem to indicate otherwise.
Capi Etheriel
December 10th, 2010 5:18 pmSmashing Magazine publishes Site5 WordPress Themes all the time, telling people they are GPL’d whne they are not. I have commented a couple times about it, but the editors at Smashing Magazine won’t answer…

Thanks Guys…

December 10th, 2010 2:50 amBeautiful theme, but I’d love to see the post content in a larger font size, even in a serif perhaps. Content is supposed to be king, and I feel the posts are drowned out by the sidebars, etc.
John Braine
December 10th, 2010 2:54 amI switched to this theme on a total whim. Looks good but having lot of trouble with homepage config, thumbs & sliders and what not. And yes I checked with host about GD support. Might just switch back for now.
comment edit – scratch that, the alternative permissions on cache folder worked, as suggested by the guide.
Chris
December 10th, 2010 4:01 amLooks awesome. However, I got a whole bunch’o'errors after installing. Any ideas?

December 10th, 2010 7:55 amAwesome… I love the theme!! Thanks for sharing :)
Chris
December 10th, 2010 11:40 amSolved my own problem above, which turns out not to be specific to this theme. Upload the theme by FTP folks, don’t use the “install themes” function on the WordPress control panel. Simples.

December 11th, 2010 11:40 amBest free theme ever seen. Site5 guys are great- Thanks.
Solana
December 11th, 2010 12:45 pmInteresting that I have only been able to get the download link on the Site5 page to work but cannot access the Live Preview or the Documentation links nor have I been able to for several hours now.
What’s going on with that?
Luis Lopez
December 11th, 2010 4:11 pmExcellent theme, I thinks the guys of 5sotes make some great free themes with a premium style.
Sharon Milne
December 12th, 2010 7:24 amDownloaded – been looking for a good portfolio type theme for a while :D
Let’s see if I can work this one out :D
Jorge
December 13th, 2010 5:52 amthe font in (cufon) dont support spanish chars like: á,é,í,ó,ú…. badly :(
Also the installation of theme give me this error:
Warning: fopen(…wp-content/themes/journalcrunch/style.css) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in …wp-includes/functions.php on line 4165
Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in …wp-includes/functions.php on line 4168
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in …wp-includes/functions.php on line 4171
but is a good theme, i mean is working, and im making more changes inside it 8i mean replacement for fonts and colors…
If the theme creators, can fix these errors, will be great for everyone =)

December 13th, 2010 8:05 amWow! Thats one of the best I have seen in ages! Good one guys!

December 13th, 2010 10:46 amThis is amazing. I just wish there was also a way to integrate a blog as well!
Chris Raymond
December 13th, 2010 10:51 amQuite a nice theme that balances portfolio and blog (even allowing you to not have blog posts on home page if you don’t want them). Needs a bit of refinement in the typography settings, but overall, nice work!

December 14th, 2010 12:13 amThanks, it helped a lot on a small project of us :) u guys rock!

December 15th, 2010 8:23 amdoes this theme support language files?
I hope so, but I do not see this on the feature-list
come on schmaschers, accept that the world is not onelingual, there are some allophones around ;=(

December 16th, 2010 5:45 amVery nice theme, but the link to the documentation does not work and it seems that thumbnails never show, or there is something I didn’t get?
Any help please?
Chrs Gosling
December 17th, 2010 12:11 amA nice-looking new template, but commercially unuseable due to no ad placements. Needs to have at leaset a header banner and a widgetised sidebar each side to make it useful.
Chrs Gosling
December 17th, 2010 12:13 amApologies – found the sidebar . . but still need something in the header . . .

December 23rd, 2010 2:23 amHello,
i really enjoyed the theme preview. The preview and design itselfs are awesome! But once installed i got the “Call to undefined function: add_theme_support()” error – I didnt find anything in the documentation.. anybody out there who has fixed this error?
Regards Julius
Marco
December 28th, 2010 12:39 am@GABI:
You need to check on the right side of the post, when you are writing, there is a block there called “Featured Image”, you can set one there.
Then it will show up.
Dreb
December 28th, 2010 10:48 amWow. Really cool. Agree that it is better than paid themes. Simple but can rock your blog. Got to grab this one. Much appreciated the share and thanks guys!

January 5th, 2011 10:19 pmUnfortunately, I’ve had lots of issues with this theme that I did *not* have with my previous theme. There are 1) the lack of a back button on the front page, 2) the SexyBookmarks plugin doesn’t work (probably an issue with the plugin, so I won’t discount it), 3) the 404 page is hard to customize, and 4) going to another page of a category redirects to my About page. All in all, good but no.

January 7th, 2011 7:27 amGREAT stuff !
I’ve got some questions / remarks …
1- if you use the featured option, then the widget on the right hand side disappear, so the navigation is less easy (I’ve added the tag cloud, categories, … at the bottom of my page)
2- if you use the featured option (again), have anyone managed to only display two featured articles, but add a slider option to browse to all the featured articles? How difficult would it be?
wadoko
January 10th, 2011 2:31 pmso final yes or no question: are you allowed to remove the “theme brought to you by site 5″ footer or not ?
MountainDan
January 13th, 2011 3:00 amFor a free theme, why would you want to?
wadoko
January 13th, 2011 5:21 amwell, I simply want to use the template to convey information on my site. I don’t use banners or links to any other company on my site – therefore I neither want a link to site5. In the readme file in the package it’s not clearly said whether you are allowed to modify the template, just to use it. So does that mean that I am allowed to remove the link or not ????
gabs
January 13th, 2011 8:01 amYes, you are.
Steff
January 16th, 2011 12:23 amThere is one issue in CSS. CSS #conent needs “images/bk_vertline.jpg”, but there is no image. I cheked live demo too.
Also there is wrong social icons image link in header. It’s ico_(name) but should be ico_social_(name).

February 8th, 2011 11:48 amHi,
we’ve just released JournalCrunch for Drupal 6 and 7. It’s available through drupal.org: http://drupal.org/project/journalcrunch
At http://www.drupalizing.com you can also check some other awesome free themes released through Smashing Magazine, which we’ve ported to Drupal as well.
There’s a question for you over there: which theme would you like us to port next?
Go grasp the chance :-)
Thx
Mithun

June 14th, 2011 12:38 pmNice theme – but not loving the copyright notice in the file: “All references and links to Site5 included in the Theme shall remain throughout any modifications made to the Theme.” Can’t use a theme that has their branding and links everywhere.
