Desktop Wallpaper Calendars: November 2012

We always try our best to challenge your artistic abilities and produce some interesting, beautiful and creative artwork. And as designers we usually turn to different sources of inspiration. As a matter of fact, we’ve discovered the best one—desktop wallpapers that are a little more distinctive than the usual crowd. This creativity mission has been going on for over four years now1, and we are very thankful to all designers who have contributed and are still diligently contributing each month.

This post features free desktop wallpapers created by artists across the globe for November 2012. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free. It’s time to freshen up your wallpaper!

Please note that:

  • All images can be clicked on and lead to the preview of the wallpaper,
  • You can feature your work in our magazine2 by taking part in our Desktop Wallpaper Calendar series. We are regularly looking for creative designers and artists to be featured on Smashing Magazine. Are you one of them?

my fav – Abstract Peacock, thanks :)

  2. 3

Lovely, lovely…Lots of moustache. Even peacocks look like moustache:D I love everything Vlad Gerasimov does. Also like Days Go By, First Icicles Of The Coming Winter and the saying from Give Thanks. However, I am a sucker for autumn leaves so it’ll be a choice between Autumn Leaves and A Sea of Leaves. Congrats to everyone and thank you. You really make me happy with these calendars.

  3. 4

Some great wallpapers this month – I wont be using any of them though… you need to make them available for dual screens. Having the same image repeated on both screens is lame

    • 5

@Simon I use DisplayFusion to show different desktop backgrounds on dual screens (one is a 22″ in landscape and the other is a 17″ in portrait).

    • 6

I won’t vote you down…instead I will offer some advice. Upgrade your computer to Windows 8! I have 4 monitors and each one has a different image that changes at a certain interval.

    • 7

You can just ‘shop them together to give the illusion that there are two images then set your desktop background method to “tile” and you have your dual backgrounds.
Just make sure the total height and width of the document/image match your two resolutions.

Loved “November 2012 – Designed by Vlad Gerasimov”. Very nice colors and is easy to see the weekends. And has the big 27″ screen size too =D

Hey great work! I love these wallpapers!

Recently I had that idea, that it would be great to have the possibility to download all images in a zip file. On a mac you can then select the folder and change the wallpapers automatically each day.

Can you provide a download link to get all images?

    Thanks in advance, Dimitri

  7. 11

Very nice wallpapers, especially those from Serbia :)

  8. 12

Unfortunately the sea of leaves background has the 10th highlighted instead of the 11th! It’s my favorite one too.

  9. 13

“Día de los muertos”, “Bursting Chestnut” and “Ubuntu Quantal Quetzal” are my favorites. Thanks!

  10. 14

    I don’t like this month’s wallpapers! :( too childish!

  11. 15

The last one was my favorite. I love penguins too!

  12. 16

days go by is my favor, thanks!

  13. 17

The Bursting Chestnut is described what I feel this month, sweet November and Give Thanks is my appreciation to unknown who always give the blessing. I love green. 17. 21

“Thanksgiving” is the best for me.

  18. 22

I like that there is one for the start of spring for those of us who are south of the equator (Australia in my case), I hope there is a summery Christmas one for December too!

  19. 23

Sorry, but wallpaper “Rainy Days” has incorrect calendar..

  20. 24

I want to see more serious works, interesting and original technique. Photos it’s ok, but there are a lot of photostock where U can find millions pics with leaves! Illustrations are too childish and have weak technique, sorry guys! Last months have wallpapers from the same agencies and artists which have same works and same style again and again – no variety( I can pick out only 2 works – Remember November by German and Fall Harvest by Beth. Thx!

  21. 25

Is there a way to subscribe to these wallpapers? I’d love to have an RSS-stream of them which would change the wallpapers each month…

  22. 26

I like Vlad Gherasimov’s green-scarlet quetzal – which is the national bird of Guatemala, for those interested. Welcome back to S.M.’s monthly wallpapers board, Vlad!

  23. 27

How is it determined which desktops are available in which size? The first few I really liked this month are not available in 1024×768 so they don’t look right on my screen! Boooooooooooo

  24. 28

I think Perfect Desktop is really good !! I also like Calaca. The Day Of The Dead and Give thanks.

  25. 30

Very disappointed this month. One word: RETINA. Please post more wallpapers in the future that have a high enough resolution for Retina screens (2560 x 1440)

  26. 31

awesome collection thanks for sharing :)

  27. 32

Slim pickings this month. None of them really appealed to me, so I chose another one from October’s selections (sans calendar).

  28. 33

Um…not so much this month, guys. You’re usually my go-to for wallpapers! So many of these are so…bleh. Please do better for December!!

  29. 34

“Thanksgiving” is awsome. I guess there should be wallpapers of 1920-by-1080 and 2560-by-1440 resolutions. :) perfect for my iMac.
    BTW Thank you.

  30. 35

    My favorite is Abstract Peacock

  31. 36

Night dragon? Seriously? Childish anime again.. just looking for some modern and innovative designs – were there none submitted?

Thanks – Ethereal is now on my desktop!

  37. 42

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the wallpaper named ‘November 12′ actually Ubuntu 12.10 default desktop wallpaper? Is that allowed to be here?

  38. 43

No any Diwali & New Year Wallpapers ?? :(

  39. 44

My favorites are Primavera, Thanksgiving, First Icicles Of The Coming Winter, Autumn Choir, November 2012.

It was really worth waiting for this post! I like – Calaca. The Day Of The Dead.

  45. 51

I like horizontal calendars so am using the Penguin “Rainy Days” wallpaper this month. Only noticed today however that the weekends are marked up incorrectly – the 5th is a Monday not a Friday.

  46. 52

    Amazing wonderful wallpapers

  47. 53

I like Fall Harvest, Rainy Days, Thanksgiving and November 2012. They’re cute!

I love penguins! Love that one.

  50. 56

  51. 57

i like calender wall paper every month

  52. 58

My favorite is “Bursting Chestnut” . I fell in love from that very moment I saw it:) The design itself is simple yet so beautiful. I really like the feeling that the designer conveyed through his work. I should say that Vlad Dusa’s design is successful. Great job!

  53. 60

All of them are great! But it would be great if you let the people choose how the calendar can be displayed, wether as a horizontal line, a vertical line, or the square traditional count.
    Thanks for the efforts!

  54. 61

    Nice Collection !!!

  55. 62

Huge thanks to everybody who contribute their time to make our days brighter!

    My favs:
    Rainy Days by Vihra Petrova
    Thanksgiving by Cortando Pixeles
    November 2012 by Vlad Gerasimov

  56. 63

No Remembrance Day wallpapers, Smashing Magazine? This month has some great ones, but to not have at least 1 Remembrance Day themed wallpaper is disappointing.

  57. 64

disappointed for not seeing any diwali wallpaper, biggest festival in india

  58. 65

    All are fantastic!!!

  59. 66

Nice collection of wallpapers…Thanks for sharing!

  60. 67

For me “Perfect Desktop” is perfect. I am using it now with calendar and for coming months without calendar. A great idea to tidy up the most important part of my computer.
