About The Location

We’ve prepared a list of useful information you’ll most probably needing to help you successfully find the location:

Smashing Workshops23
The workshops will all take place at the Smashing Media headquarters24.

Traveling By Plane From
Basel, Switzerland

One of the closest airport is the EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg25. The airport is only 70km away from Freiburg and offers over 450 scheduled flights per week to 50 different destinations in the whole of Europe, e.g. Berlin, Hamburg, London, Paris, Prague, Madrid, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Reykjavik and many more. From the Airport you can easily take a train26, bus27 or even a taxi. The taxi28, of course, is the most expensive solution.

Strasbourg, France

Also close to Freiburg is the Aéroport international Strasbourg29. It is only about 60km from Freiburg. For information which Airline flies to this Airport, check the list of Airlines at their site30.

Karlsruhe, Germany

Another way to get to us by plane is to use the Baden-Airpark31 in Karlsruhe. It is about 100km away from Freiburg and you can use the ICE train to get to Freiburg. The Freiburger Airportservice32 picks you up at multiple airports and takes you to the exact location you need to go. Please note that you need to book this service before the start of your journey.

Zürich, Switzerland

Another possible airport is Zürich Airport33. Only 150km away and with a direct train connection to Freiburg, it is another good solution to get to the Smashing Media Headquarters.

Stuttgart, Germany

Stuttgart Aiport34 is about 200km away, but also good connected with Freiburg via train. Check which airlines are flying35 to this airport.

Frankfurt, Germany

Last but not least you can get to Freiburg by flying to Frankfurt Airport36. Frankfurt is the biggest airport in Germany and thousands of – also international – direct flights are available to Frankfurt. The only issue with this airport concerning Freiburg is, that you have to take a train from there that needs approximately 2 hours for the 270km to Freiburg central station.

Traveling By Train Or Car
By Train

The central station in Freiburg is a 10–15 minute walk away from the the workshop venue. Since Freiburg lies within the network of the European railway system and is also an Intercity Express (ICE) station between Frankfurt and Basel, it is well accessible by rail from all directions. For example, 40 minutes from Basel or 2 hours from Frankfurt. See the following sites for detailed info:

By Car/Parking

Freiburg has a huge amount of parking areas and parking garages. Most of them are in walking distance of the workshop venues. Please check out Google Maps41, where we have marked the parking places for your convenience.

We Look Forward To Seeing You!

Is there any chance this may become a webinar? I’d gladly pay to be an observer on the workshop :)

Most workshops are hands-on which means that following the webinar alone might not be very helpful, but we haven’t discussed it just yet. We’ll talk about that with the workshop trainers!

Will these sessions be recorded or documented, by any chance? (for us in the US that can’t make it to Germany)

Would LOVE to attend, but I’m no where near Germany! Do you have any recommendations for online magazines that are in the US that might offer these types of seminars (that are more affordable than HOW)?

Thanks for your all the great tips, tricks and info!

I echo the previous comments – a streaming feed of the workshops would be excellent. I would certainly be willing pay for the service. :)

This is awesome! Great to see the best online magazine doing events that are within reach of more people i.e. not in the US. But I do agree with many folks above that this could be recorded with worksheets and tutorials downloadable. Won’t be the same as being in Germany (it’s an awesome country, y’all should get a passport and visit) but you could charge and reduce the amount of adverts on your site :D

Would love to have these programs in Seattle, USA! There are a lot of huge companies in this area that are crucial to the Web world such as Microsoft, Adobe, and even Google. The culture here certainly welcomes classes and seminars. Please consider bringing Smashing to the US!
