Desktop Wallpaper Calendars: June 2014

We always try our best to challenge your artistic abilities and produce some interesting, beautiful and creative artwork. And as designers we usually turn to different sources of inspiration. As a matter of fact, we’ve discovered the best one—desktop wallpapers that are a little more distinctive than the usual crowd. This creativity mission has been going on for six years now1, and we are very thankful to all designers who have contributed and are still diligently contributing each month.

This post features free desktop wallpapers created by artists across the globe for June 2014. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free. It’s time to freshen up your wallpaper!

Please note that:

  • All images can be clicked on and lead to the preview of the wallpaper,
  • You can feature your work in our magazine2 by taking part in our Desktop Wallpaper Calendars series. We are regularly looking for creative designers and artists to be featured on Smashing Magazine. Are you one of them?

I wanted to contribute to the wallpapers’ category at Smashing Magazine for a month or so and here it is.” — Designed by Ahmad Awais22 from Pakistan.

It’s A Big World

“The world can be small: we are all connected by smiles, heartbeats, families, and laughter. The world can also be big: we can be separated by oceans, languages, cultures and borders. So connected. So diverse. One year ago, I moved to the other side of the world and began to experience these connections and separations. We each have the privilege of discovering more of this amazing world every single day.” — Designed by Rachel Litzinger425 from Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Let’s Play

“Because of my love for football I could not resist making a wallpaper for the FIFA World Cup 2014 scheduled to take place in Brazil from the 12th of June to the 13th of July 2014. The national teams of 31 countries are going to be in the tournament. Which country do you think is going to be the champion this year? Style wise I am mixing some graffiti with typography and all in vector. Hope you like it and enjoy the world cup!” — Designed by Mike Karolos (Smirap Designs)746 from Greece.

In the “Camomile” calendar for the May, not June. Can you fix it?

  2. 6

“Summer Color” has appeared in your monthly calendar series before in a slightly different incarnation, probably a couple of years ago. I know because I’ve kept it as my desktop ever since then! Not sure if the original artist resubmitted, or if it may have been borrowed by someone else…

“Ice Cream June” is my favorite this month! I usually don’t choose food-based wallpapers (they make me hungry sitting at my desk all day), but this one was so creative and fun!!!

    Hi everyone!

I probably am a familiar name in the comments because I cannot just download the wallpapers without showing my appreciation. Thanks to all the creative designers. Because of what you present, I feel inspired. However, I am unfamiliar with the art of creating wallpapers, so I prefer enjoying all your works as featured here. And I have to say this, if Smashing Magazine had not initiated this art platform, I could have never appreciated your work. So, thank you, guys. For designing and for making it available for people like us.

    Finally, here are my favorites.
‘Oh, the places you will go’ won my heart. Because I am going to join college this fall and I thought it was really sweet.

I am a fan of colors, so doughnut galore stood out for me this month. I am glad to tell the designers I have it on my desktop and it looks funky and cool.

Evolutions and Summer dreams and summer schemes were simple and easy on the eyes. Woah, looks like I have quite a couple of favorites this month. I will have to keep rolling through!

This month I like almost all of them. But if I have to pick one it will be The Kids Looking Outside!!!! It makes me think about my beloved cat :)

A bit disappointed that there’s only one wallpaper about fathers’ day and only one actual world cup wallpaper. I’m not sure if it’s the choices made or the submissions but I really expected more and no offense to others.
