Student Internship Positions In Smashing Magazine’s Headquarters

Smashing Magazine is looking for two motivated students who are keen on learning about online publishing as well as tech-savvy Web design development. All of our interns have had the opportunity to gather first-hand experience from one of the most successful blogs by working side by side with Smashing Magazine’s team. To find out how an internship at SmashingMag could look like, please take a closer look at the article written by our trainees Jessica Bordeau and Melanie Lang.

Location

The internship programs take place in the Smashing headquarters in Freiburg, Germany (Google Maps). Freiburg was founded in the 12th century and is one of the most attractive and beautiful cities in Germany. Freiburg is also known to be the sunniest and warmest city in Germany — right next to France and Switzerland. It lies on the edge of the Black Forest and in the middle of a major wine growing region.

Start & Duration

Both internship positions begin on the 1st of July 2013 and end on the 31st of December 2013 (6 months). However, we are quite flexible and encourage you to send us your résumés nevertheless, and tell us what time of the year you’d be able to do an internship. Please note that the internships are full-time positions (Mo. – Fri.) and that in-house attendance is compulsory.

Requirements

It’s important that you want to learn new skills, and we hope you share our affection for Web design and development. We expect strong interpersonal communication and writing skills, as well as some basic knowledge of German. You’ll also be given multiple projects to manage at the same time, so juggling is a plus! ;)

Tasks & Goals

You’ll be involved in different departments (from editing to Web developing) and will gain valuable, practical first-hand experience — both in online and print.
