Upcoming Web Design and Development Conferences in 2010

At the end of last year, we published a comprehensive list of web design and development conferences that might be of interest to Smashing Magazine's diverse readership. Many readers commented and added links to other conferences and events that weren't listed, some of which were added to the post. Using the contents of that list along with some other sources, we've compiled a list of web design and development-related conferences and events that will be taking place in the next six to eight months.

As always, there is no way for us to be able to include every possible event here, but we'll be glad to update the list if you provide a comment to an upcoming event that you feel would be of interest to graphic designers or web developers. We who work on the Web live in wonderful times. In the past, we did of lot of trial-and-error learning, and the biggest hurdle was getting people to understand what we were on about. Over time, companies like Google, Yahoo, Skype, Facebook and Twitter managed to get the geeky Web into the living rooms of regular people and into the headlines of the mainstream press.

Now more than ever are there opportunities on the Web for you, as a professional, to be seen and to be found. I am a professional Web spokesperson for a large company, and I spoke at 27 conferences in 14 countries last year. I write for several magazines and blogs and have published a few books. When people ask me how I got to where I am now, my standard answer is: by releasing stuff on the Web and by listening and reacting to feedback. And you can do the same.

Web Conferences Roundup: Events from Around the Globe

Each year, thousands of developers, designers, and programmers from around the world gather together at conferences and events to share ideas, promote the latest technologies, and discuss best practices, standards, and emerging trends in their respective fields. For those of us who have had the privilege to participate in one or more of those events, we likely received valuable information that had a profound effect on our progress as web professionals.

An Event Apart

In this article, we've attempted to gather together a comprehensive list of web development and graphic design-related conferences and events that developers and designers can use as a reference to find out where and when the latest of such of events will be taking place. I've tried to ensure that the event descriptions and links are as general as possible, allowing this list to stay relevant for as long as possible.
