Extended Entypo Glyph Set (EPS, PDF, PSD, Typeface, Web Font)

After endless suplications from the design community Daniel Bruce finally finished his update of the Entypo Glyph Set — a free set of universal 284 carefully crafted pictograms for regular design projects. The icons are available as EPS, PDF and Photoshop PSD files as well as desktop typefaces (TrueType, OpenType) and Web fonts.

This set contains a large collection of glyphs for all occasions and uses — common pictograms that shouldn't be missing in anybody's arsenal. Each glyph was drawn and optimized to make sure that it fits the overall style of the suite. You can use this glyph set freely for commercial and personal projects.

Today, we present yet another freebie — a free set of icons related to movies and television, designed by Samuray and released for Smashing Magazine and the design community. The icons are available in six different sizes as transparent PNG files, JPG files as well as Photoshop PSD source files.

UX Sketching And Wireframing Templates For Mobile Projects

Today we are happy to release two printable UX sketching and wireframing templates, designed by Pixle for Smashing Magazine’s readers. This article presents Outline, a set of sketching and wireframing papers for mobile platforms and Tapsize, a set of templates for checking optimal tap areas without a mobile device.

Outline is a set of 28 printable sketching and wireframing papers (in PDF) for seven mobile platforms: Android, BlackBerry, iOS (iPad and iPhone), Meego, Symbian, webOS, Windows Phone 7. The set consists of a few combinations, such as actual size, 10 devices fit to a page, and landscape layout.

Free Bash ScriptBatch Resizing Using Command Line and ImageMagick

If you deal with images, sooner or later you will want to automate the repeating process of saving different sizes from one source image. If you own Adobe Photoshop and do not save too many output sizes, Photoshop actions are probably quite enough for your needs. However, keeping a Photoshop action up-to-date is quite painful — change a source folder, and you're screwed.

As you probably noticed in Smashing Magazine's monthly desktop wallpaper series, especially if you work on wallpapers, preparing them for a plethora of desktop resolutions is quite a task. On my own wallpapers website, I generate more than 300 JPEG files for each wallpaper! I want my art to reach as many devices as possible, which means I need to publish my wallpapers in as many sizes as I can support. On the other hand, I do not want to spend the rest of my life resizing my artworks — I’d rather draw new ones!
