Texture Gallery: Miscellaneous

These photos have been created by Smashing Magazine readeres in our Smashing Texture Contest. What can you do with them? You can use all textures for both private and commercial projects for free, without any restrictions whatsoever. However, you are not allowed to offer these files for download; please respect the interestes of over 300 participants of our contest. Please also consider the license information attached to the .zip-archives you download from our server. When it comes to usage of textures, different photographers may have different opinions and intentions.

Some .zip-archives also contain further images of the same photographer. The file size of .zip-archives is between 1 and 15 Mb (depending on image resolution) which makes over 700 Mb space storage. This is also a reason why we have decided to not offer all textures in one single archive. It is very likely that due to huge amount of data and manual work some links contain errors — please inform us about them. And sorry for the inconvenience.

What you see here is an close-up from a soccerball. You can
see by the damaging that it’s a really old one, but that’s what
gives the picture it’s charme.

I can remember what this is actually, but I think it is a close-up
of my shoe. My really old shoe, considering the fact that I call
it grungy. It has a nice texture and I think it would look great
on packaging.

Gourds – On our farm in central/north Texas, growing gourds is easy as throwing out a seed. These are a couple of photos I took at harvest time. The inside of the dried gourds had more to offer than the outsides.

Going “home” to our family reunion in the hills of Southern Illinois, I found what looks like a mural composed of tiles.
The original is a bit larger with more tiles. I was interested in the picture for the individual textures in the tiles. I don’t know if it’s what yur are looking for but I hope to use it as a texture.

This picture was taken during the International Festival of Arts in April, San José Costa Rica. This is part of an installation made with recycling trash. This are caps from glass bottled beers from Costa Rica. This section was part of the spiral made in the ground with all trash that would later be recycled from the Festival.

This one is going to be big. Smashing Magazine’s readers have created a quite smashing texture gallery:

The Smashing Team loves high-quality content and cares about little details. Through our online articles, books and eBooks and Smashing Conferences, we are committed to stimulating creativity and strengthening the Web design community’s creative forces.

I came across this site – and took a look at the textures and downloaded too. This is great. There’s a lot one can do with a camera I suppose.

Awesome textures. You can use them for almost anything. I was trying to get the feel of a jail cell, please don’t ask me why, and the last picture in this series, Kory Pence, really hit the spot.

    Thank-you
