Black and White Fractals That Capture Creativity

Everyday we see objects consisting of one, two, and three dimensions. By incorporating mathematics with design, the outcome of computer generated fractals is based upon complexity, creativity and perception.

By removing the beautiful array of colors we typically see in fractals at these finer magnifications, the manipulation of fractional dimensions with the black & white designs offers a different perspective of aesthetically appealing images.

Looks like something I’d buy at a 99 cent store. And it would come framed.

I’ve never seen collection so completely uninspiring in my life.

i never liked fractals…the first is decent though…

I think some of them aren’t really fractals, for instance the first and third “Unknown”.

    Nice article though.

That one was done using a plastic script, that was an earlier work I did once , actually got sold as a large print, I can see why ppl don’t have an eye for anything.

I thought fractals went out of fashion in the late 90s! Most either look dated or dull. A lot could be made be made by someone messing up an abstract tutorial, I’ve made some stuff that would be better then some of these that way!

Julean McLean, Coolheart (especially), Lynn and the Unknown underneath that are pretty sweet. But on the whole its a bit meh, some are really bad. The only saving grace is that being black and white its less nauseating to look at. Sorry to be mean, but… well.

I have seen Fractal art before and love the work on the whole. In this collection “lapurr” is my favorite. I must admit that color enhances the images greatly. “lapurr” would be truly spectacular in color. Thanks for sharing.

  25. 27

Awful! Really, I truly love this site and this is the laziest and least inspiring post I have ever seen. Anywhere.
Fractals have to be done really well if they are worth the time otherwise (like these) they look like lazy 90s trance flyers.

  26. 28

Um… a Mandelbrot set? Can you honestly put “Unknown” on that? :P

  27. 29

I guess all the people who hate these things probably don’t understand the exact process behind them or why they say something profound about the universe. :3

You are the smartest one so far who has said something that is of the obvious, sadly these minds are too closed up, only because it’s black and white and not in color.

Capture Creativity? That is one of the dumbest titles I have seen in weeks. It reads like those insufferable flickr comments.

I love working with black and white gradients with my fractals. I agree that the creativity factor is ramped up a bit when the gradient is minimal.

    Nice collection of fractals!

Fractals are a mathematical marvel. It amazes me that simple mathematics can produce such images (yes, I know complex numbers are involved, but they’re simple formulae using complex numbers).

The mathematics produces the beauty. It doesn’t need any input from a human. To me, human intervention detracts from the innate beauty of fractals.

I’m sorry, but the images which appealed to me were the more organic ones. The revelation of fractals was that mathematics can do that.

Worst collection yet. How the hell am i supposed to use these as a web designer?

    0
  37. 40

I think it’s an error to say the colours were removed to make these monochrome images. Fractals don’t intrinsically have colours.

Fractals are generated by iterative algorithms and colour is usually employed to show how many iterations were involved. The number and choice of colours is entirely up to the person who created the graphics software.

Many of the comments here have been negative. Maybe ‘more colour’ is equated with ‘more beautiful’
