Freebie Release: Quartz Icon Set

Today we are glad to release Quartz Icon Pack, a set with 90 clean, sharp and (hopefully) useful icons for your project. This set was designed by our friend, a Romanian designer Andy Gongea especially for Smashing Magazine and its readers. The Quartz icon set contains 90 semi-transparent .png-icons in the resolution 64×64px.

The icons can be used without any restrictions for any type of composition – text- or graphic-based. The icons cover a wide range of designs – e-mail icons, software icons, general web application icons and blog icons. The set is free to download and use in any projects.

You can use the set for all of your projects for free and without any restrictions. You can freely use it for both your private and commercial projects, including software, online services, templates and themes. 3. 3

This is great! Thanks for the set of icons.

  4. 4

Nicely done Andy. Can you explain what your process was in selecting which icons to design?

  5. 5

Thank you all. I appreciate your kind words.

    @Chris Wallace

No process – I’ve started with a home and then one icon led to another. I still have other drafts which were left behind.

  6. 6

Thank you! Excellent for my new project!

  7. 7

    Love the icons.
Social ones are nice. Would you it on my blog.

  10. 10

Another set of boring icons. How many Home icons do we need?

  11. 11

    nothing special, but cute.
not sure that it should be on the SM..

  12. 12

Would be nice to get the .eps files for these icons to match them to anything we need to fit them to. Change colors, bigger size… blend them. Whatever.

  13. 13

Ah, I wish there could be a good 16px*16px file type icon set (PDF, ZIP, …) in the same vein.

  14. 14

    nice, thanks for the icons.

  15. 15

    Awesome! Many thanks.

  16. 16

The icons look awesome, thanks so much :)

I have one question: I am taking part on a design contest from a paid forum software. So, the design that wins will be shipped as a 2nd default skin together with the paid forum software. Am I allowed to use the icons in the skin I create for the contest?

And am I allowed to mix & edit the icons for this purpose?

    Thank you,

  17. 17

  23. 23

    Thank you!

  24. 24

Sorry, must have required some work… but it results in a huge “déjà vu” impression…

  25. 25

Well i like *really* most of your posts a lot & most more interesting than any other on net, but what are those icon-posts for? You really can’t use them in my mind.

    Else, best work, smashes!

  26. 26

Thanks Andy for icons…these all are added into my collection.
