Desktop Wallpaper Calendar: July 2010

Desktop wallpapers can serve as an excellent source of inspiration. However, if you use some specific wallpaper for a long period of time, it becomes harder to draw inspiration out of it. That’s why we have decided to supply you with smashing wallpapers over 12 months. And to make them a little bit more distinctive from the usual crowd, we’ve decided to embed calendars for the upcoming month. So if you need to look up some date, isn’t it better to show off a nice wallpaper with a nice calendar instead of launching some default time application?

This post features 40 free desktop wallpapers, created by designers across the globe. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free.

Please notice:

  • all images can be clicked and lead to the preview of the wallpaper;
  • you can feature your work in our magazine by taking part in our desktop wallpaper calendar series. We are regularly looking for creative designers and artists to be featured on Smashing Magazine. Are you one of them?

You can also download July 2010 Windows 7 Theme that contains all calendards featured below.

  4. 12

Real poor collection for July 2010, compared to other months we have seen before

  5. 17

    As always, supurb :D

  6. 18

Dang, I forgot to do one for this month!
Some really nice entries though. Good job everyone!

Loving “July Night”. Really clever use of negative space.

  10. 22

Is it me or there is a mistake in the calendar of the first wallpaper ?

  11. 29

    I am in!
    I am in!

  12. 30

I really like “le Tour de France”!!

  13. 31

    My Beach its my favourite

  14. 34

I agree that it’s definitely a poorer collection compared to previous months.

But there are a couple of very cool ones in there. Keep up the good work! =)

  15. 35

I love the first one, but there is a bug with the calendar in it. July doesn’t start with Tuesday but with Thursday.

Would be perfect if you could fix this! :)

  16. 37

The july-10-hire-me-calendar have more free area. I liked.

  22. 44

Oh man I don’t know which one to choose, they’re all awesome! Great job!

  23. 45

I thought for sure I would see at least one Canadian calendar on here wishing a happy Canada day.

Good job for the most part everyone.

  24. 46

My favorite is Symbian World =)

  25. 47

    Very cool!

Why do you make this available under jpg image format? You get less storage space at the expense of image quality. Would be better to get the image on its raw format.

Would also be cooler if the logo of smashing magazine was less intrusive (it’s too big).

All in all congrats for the great work!

      June 30, 2010 6:19 am

Well, this has simple reasons: raw images would take way too much space, and for each 16 variations (sizes, with and without wallpapers), so it will take way too much space. And we do not require designers to have a specific size for the Smashing Magazine logo, it’s up to them.

  26. 49

The calendar on “SummerTime” is unfortunately for June not for July

  27. 50

    every month nice wallpaper!
    good job! :)

  28. 51

Wow, wow, wow! Thank you a million times over! I’m thrilled to see my wallpaper featured in this stunning collection. Thank you Smashing Magazine! A huge congratulations to everybody else as well! :)
