Upcoming Web Design And Development Conferences For 2012

We’re well into 2012, and many designers and developers around the world are planning their travels for the year, which may include attending one of the many Web design and development conferences that will be held in the upcoming months. To help you out with your plans, we’ve once again put together a list of conferences and events that you might want to consider.

As always, this post covers events taking place in about a seven month timeframe that ends in early September. In August, we’ll post another article like this that will cover events for the six or seven month period beginning in September.

There is no way for us to include every possible event, so you are more than welcome to help us out and provide a comment to an upcoming event that you feel would be of interest to Smashing Magazine’s readers. This may also be a chance for you1 to meet members of the Smashing Team this year.

    You didn’t mention

    From the site:
“With its “Point-of-View” platform, SIC 2012 provides a unique stage for entrepreneurs, technologists, advertisers, designers, entertainers, online business professionals and thinkers to converge: Visionary speakers on technology, creativity, and emergent trends will leave you inspired, and networking events promise to better connect you.”

SIC was great last year and I’m looking forward to SIC 2012!

That one is in October. SM plans to publishh this post twice a year. Once in February to cover events up to around the beginning of September, and then again in late July/August to cover events up to around the first half of February.

      • 3

Hey Louis, any updates on the next post? :)

        • 4

Are there any good conferences coming up in the second half of 2012? I’m particularly interested in any in the D.C. area so I wouldn’t have to travel.

  2. 5

You forgot to include An Event Apart (Seattle April 2012) – AEA is easily the best web dev conference I’ve been too. But that’s a great list of conferences. Wish I could attend more than one a year!

    • 6

Oh, looks like it was greyed out on their home page, so I assumed it was already past or something. Looks like it’s sold out with limited workshop seats available, so I’ll add that. Thanks.

  3. 7

    Greate, lovely post!

  4. 8

Nice collection. One thing: what’s about DrupalCon Munich?

Thanks for these conference list articles – mighty handy.

  7. 12

Does anyone know of conferences in Philly or Baltimore area?

  8. 13

Can’t believe it ! ‘seems there’s not even ONE event in France … ‘:(

  9. 17

Are there no conferences in Los Angeles in the next 7 months? I know Adobe Max is in October, but is there really nothing until then?

My 2 days old comment disappeared somehow :) so posting again. Thanks for the list Louis! It is incredibly helpful. You might consider adding Web Rebels conference as well. It will be in May in Oslo, Norway.

  11. 20

Hi! Nice collection. I made a quick research weeks ago and also wrote down a list of conferences in 2012. Maybe you will find something new.

  12. 21

Wish there was more conferences in Australia, To bad all the ones currently happing are way to expensive, even the student prices are stupidly expensive….. Wont be attending any on the fact that after buying ticket and travelling its totalling nearly $1000 before even getting in the door or having anywhere to stay… Not ideal for a freelancer.

  13. 23

    You forgot to mention php|tek.
May 22-25 in Chicago, IL – US

While tek focuses on php, this year’s theme is PHP and Friends. We cover a wide range of topics and technologies related to web development including a full-day tutorial on HTML5.

  14. 24

How about NYC? Any others not listed here?

  15. 25

There’s also Ciconf that is going to be in London this weekend.

  16. 26
  17. 27

You should add backbone conf in Boston

  18. 28

Thank you so much for this post! I’m self taught and have never really been able to meet other UI designers, but now I’ll be able to go to my very first design conference and be completely humbled!

  19. 29

How about the great New Adventures in Web Design Conference (naConf) in Nottingham?

  20. 30

    UXSpain should be here ;)
