If you have the Smashing Book 2, you’ll know that animals play a distinct role—forming almost a tradition for the series. This time, we have asked the talented young illustrator Kate McLelland13 to illustrate the introductory pages for all of the chapters. Kate has been impressively creative in her designs; the theme of redesign has obviously shaped the tone of her artwork. Each chapter begins with an elaborate drop cap.

My only minor complaint: the paper you have used for the book could be a little bit more opaque, the back side shines through… but all of the content is so damn exiting that you soon don’t notice that anymore :-D

    I got my book 3 on Friday, very happy with it… especially as the paper stock smells exactly the same as my history text-book did at school when I was in year 7 ( aged 11, 1994 ), before I turned into a moody teenager and shunned history to the dark recesses of irrelevance. Only now am I truly undertanding what I missed out on at school. At least it’s never too late to learn.

        I’ve ordered mine in 11th and it’s still not here. I mean, really (?!), I live in Dusseldorf! if I knew that I would take more than 2 weeks to get it, I would have gone myself to pick it up from Berlin.

      Same here in Spain, pre-ordered day 1 but still waiting for either one of them to arrive. I already have read halfway through the ebook, but I much prefer the physical one.
