Desktop Wallpaper Calendars: April 2015

We always try our best to challenge your artistic abilities and produce some interesting, beautiful and creative artwork, and as designers we usually turn to different sources of inspiration. As a matter of fact, we’ve discovered the best one—desktop wallpapers that are a little more distinctive than the usual crowd. This creativity mission has been going on for seven years now, and we are very thankful to all designers who have contributed and are still diligently contributing each month.

This post features free desktop wallpapers created by artists across the globe for April 2015. Both versions with a calendar and without a calendar can be downloaded for free. It’s time to freshen up your wallpaper!

Please note that:

  • All images can be clicked on and lead to the preview of the wallpaper,
  • You can feature your work in our magazine by taking part in our Desktop Wallpaper Calendars series. We are regularly looking for creative designers and artists to be featured on Smashing Magazine. Are you one of them?

A Magnificent World

“April is Autism Awareness Month, although there’s never a bad time to make autism awareness art. There’s no denying that it creates a lot of struggles for those who are on the spectrum (those with autism, Asperger Syndrome, etc), but some people find that it adds a lot to their lives as well. Those on the spectrum get absorbed in things — whether circles or flying, animals or strip malls — and see magic and wonder in them that others don’t. So I wanted to use a quote which, I feel, captures that side of autism. For more info on autism, check out Autism Speaks or Autism Society.” — Designed by Rebecca Coleman from the United States.

Citrus Passion and A Magnificent World are my favorites! They are not the typical ‘spring’ calendar, which I am enjoying right now!

As always, all of the submissions are great! :)

I feel like every month these get more and more rubbish. They used to be really nice and really useful, creative desktop wallpapers. Half of them have the calendar so small there’s no point in having it on there, it’s difficult to read, or it doesn’t clearly state the days of the week or weekends at least. Also, the subjects people are using at really mundane. March’s wallpapers were okay, but in an overall sense I feel like these are nowhere near good as they used to be. :(

¿Where is your wallpaper? You know that they do it for free? They participate, just cause they like to do the calendars and shear them to all of us… Go make your own calendar wallpapers Rebekah and learn to write your name correctly! ;-)

Unfortunately, I see it like you. Of course, the most of wallpapers are creative and nice, but there are not functional. The most of current pictures are too colorful, so the icons on the desktop would be wear off. I hate to say, but the last wallpaper I chosen from these collections three years ago.

“Hidden In The Magic Garden” and “Spring Rain” are my faves.

But all of the wallpapers are really creative and uplifting.
Thanks for sharing your works :)

Hope you’re all having a wonderful spring.

    Great wallpapers guys.

Just wanted to ask – are available resolutions determined by the author, is it possible to support a 1366 by 768 resolution? Please =)

    • 11

Yes, author selects what resolutions to provide.
I would prefer that 1366×768 and 1920×1080 would be obligatory.

I really would have liked that Don’t Be Shy one but it has some weird jagged lines in places, it kinda looks like it was designed quite small and scaled up… I would have totally gone for it if it were more crisp.
