Specific Duties:

  • Manages the Digital Marketing team for the University and UConn Health in web and digital marketing, including the development and implementation of strategy in these areas.
  • Conceptualizes, manages, and plans web and digital solutions for use in the University and UConn Health’s public relations and marketing programs.
  • Coordinates and provides project management oversight with university writers, designers, photographers, and web developers to produce web and digital based solutions for the University and UConn Health.
  • Serves as an expert on web information architecture, SEO, and analytics for the University and UConn Health, developing and implementing strategies to ensure accurate and useful information is available and distributed appropriately. Provides presentations to leadership to guide strategy, and provides training sessions for University and UConn Health constituents.
  • Oversees, researches, writes, and prepares content for web and digital marketing, including site map concepting, meeting with University and UConn Health constituents to ensure accuracy of information, compliance with ADA recommendations, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Oversees all digital needs assessments and research for products and service related to digital marketing strategies
  • Serves as consultant to University administration and staff, and meets with members of the university community to guide uniformity of the University’s’ digital brand image, and to guide strategic promotion of individual programs.
  • Keeps up to date on best practices used to promote colleges/universities using web and digital marketing strategies.
  • Responds to emergency and/or immediate public information needs as it pertains to the web, as required by University administration.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in, communications, marketing, information technology or closely related field.
  • At least five years of experience in web and digital marketing production, two years of which include management or supervision of staff and projects.
  • Evidence of masterful writing, project managing, and web production.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, and willingness to work flexible hours when activities fall outside of normal working hours.
  • Tact and superior interpersonal/communications skills and techniques.
  • Knowledge of web and digital marketing operations and the needs of constituents.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work without guidance, ability to make instant judgments based on sound public relations and marketing communications practice and experience. Preferred
  • Master’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, information technology or closely related field.
  • Supervisory experience of cross-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in web and digital marketing in higher education.
  • Experience in web and digital marketing for a healthcare system.
  • Experience in client and/or consumer-based web and digital marketing.

This is a full-time position and will work predominantly 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Director of Strategic Marketing with University Communications leadership at UConn Health and University of Connecticut


Under the direction of designated administrator, manages all aspects of UConn Health’s and the University’s web and digital marketing activities, including supervision of staff across various campuses, strategic direction, maximizing SEO and tracking analytics to make data-based decisions regarding digital resources. The clinical priorities of UConn Health and the strategic reputational position of the University will inform the digital strategy.
