We provide advanced sales and enrollment automation software to the insurance industry through our Ascend technology platform. Bloom’s Ascend™ technology platform focuses on sales automation efficiencies and optimizing the member experience from the first moment a prospect considers a health plan membership.
This role is based at our offices in BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA. As a Sr. Software Developer, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, multi-product team environment. You will design, create, and maintain efficient and quality code, tests, and documentation of software applications and processes for customized .NET applications.

- Develop and support customized .NET applications
- Develop and support customized mobile applications using Visual Studio
- Software requirement specifications for the development of new applications
- Discovery on new projects, followed by specification development
- Troubleshoot technical issues
- Work with SQL Developers to create necessary database objects in a .NET environment
- Develop and maintain functional, and automated unit tests for in-house developed software solutions
- Testing of products in controlled environments prior to going live
- Work closely with designers, management, and project managers to ensure satisfaction of client needs
- Participate in regular code reviews
- Mentor other developers on development practices and professional development
- B.S. in computer science or equivalent
- 10+ years professional experience or equivalent
- Lead developer experience
The ideal candidate will have comfort and proficiency with the majority of the following:
- Demonstrated experience writing complex business apps in .NET with SQL Server back-end
- Thorough understanding of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and practice
- Thorough understanding of Web development concepts and practice
- Experience working with Visual Studio
- Experience with most of the following technologies:
- Web API
- CSSREST based web services
- XML & JSON
- Source Control Management (Git, Mercurial, TFS, Subversion)
- Experience using performance tuning tools and techniques for web applications
- Experience in systems integration, business analysis, and project management is also a plus
- Experience with Xamarin a plus
- Experience in cross platform mobile development a plus
- Clear, concise communication skills, attention to details, analytical thinking
- Explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
- Working with reporting tools
- Work with project managers to develop documentation of new features for end users
