Senior Developers at NICE receive a Recruitment & Retention allowance which is £5,000 pro rata per year on top of the salary. Salary: Band 7 £37,570 - £43,772 pa + £5000.

Main duties and responsibilities
As a senior developer at NICE, your responsibilities will be to:
- Build simple and maintainable web applications, APIs, libraries and more to serve a variety of user and NICE needs
- Be user-focused and meet user needs
- Help colleagues with their career development and coach more junior developers
- Be a self-directed learner, keeping up to date with modern languages/frameworks and techniques
- Act as a digital ambassador for NICE and Digital Services by sharing experiences through blog posts and engaging with the wider development community
- Work independently, having a high level of discipline to manage and take ownership of development issues
- Be able to communicate highly complex technical issues and risks to non-technical business stakeholders external to the team, both verbally and written
- Contribute to the development community of practise to establish and promote best practise

Knowledge and skills
To be a senior developer at NICE, you’ll need to have:
- Detailed knowledge of C#, .NET Core and ASP.NET
- Detailed knowledge of how to design, develop and test simple, maintainable solutions to complex problems
- Detailed knowledge of how to debug a distributed web application stack
- Good knowledge of relational or non-relational database technologies
- An understanding of common web application vulnerabilities and associated mitigations
There a few other things that we’d love you to have, but they’re not essential:
- Knowledge of web accessibility and associated issues
- A bachelors degree in a relevant STEM subject
Experience and qualifications
It’s essential that you also have the following experience:
- Extensive experience designing and developing robust web applications or API’s using C#, .NET Core or ASP.NET with relational or non-relational databases
- Experience of using testing to validate solutions
- Experience of advocating and maintaining a high level of code quality across the development team
- Experience collaborating with other disciplines including business analysts, testers and operations engineers to deliver working software
- Experience providing technical support for production service issues
- Experience helping other developers with their skill development
We’d love you to have to following, but they’re not essential:
- Experience of Amazon Web Services
- A degree level qualification in a relevant technical subject
As well as the technical skills and experience we’re looking for developers who:
- Have good oral and written communication skills with an ability to present or explain their work to peers or stakeholders

How you will be assessed
Your CV and cover letter will be reviewed by a panel of shortlisters. If you are successful in being shortlisted you will be invited to an interview at our Manchester office. The interview will be approximately 2 hours and will consist of a face-to-face interview (1hr) followed by a technical exercise (45 minutes). The technical exercise will be a pair programming activity with one of our developers. This is so that we can see how you approach problem-solving, your level of technical knowledge and how well you work with others.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance and advice on promoting high quality health, public health and social care. Our role is to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services. We do this by producing evidence-based guidance and advice for health, public health and social care practitioners.
Digital Services within NICE is responsible for delivering and improving all NICE’s digital services and applications. Our strategy is to deliver services that meet our users’ needs.
We’re a 50 strong department but we work in small agile teams of developers, designers, business analysts and others. We build a minimum viable product, then measure and iterate. We’re constantly improving our services to make them simpler, clearer and faster for our 2 million users a month.
