Being a developer at Mixd

Mixd predominantly works with large Public Sector clients to deliver performance optimised, accessible websites, intranets, extranets and apps. We have established ourselves as one of the NHS’ leading digital partners and we have the privilege to work on a daily basis with NHS trusts, Clinical Care Groups and acute care specialists. Mixd also works with other Public sector bodies including the Police and Local Government.

Agile

Mixd has an agile approach to projects. Our team includes specialists in Discovery, UX, editorial, content-migration and design that work closely with our clients to understand their goals and needs and use that to plan and roadmap our sprints so that our development team can focus on writing code.

Accessibility

Mixd have been advocates of accessibility for many years and as a minimum deliver websites that are fully compliant with the WCAG2.1 AA specification. We also believe in Accessible UX, working towards websites that provide an enjoyable experience regardless of the technology used to visit the site.

NHS Covid support

Over the last year, we are extremely proud to have supported the NHS in delivering critical solutions for the effective communication of information related to COVID-19. We developed a drop-in WordPress module for Coronavirus related news and updates for many of our NHS partners. We also developed and released a free coronavirus information microsite that could be deployed very quickly for public sector clients that we are extremely proud of.

Componentised frontend development

Mixd has developed a PHP based Server Side Rendered (SSR) component loading system that allows us to completely separate logic from presentation and also enables a development workflow comparable to javascript implementations such as React and Vue. We keep all our components organised using Fractal to create living design-systems for our projects.

Remote working

As a team, Mixd has been working remotely since March 2020 and we anticipate this continuing for the next several months so are committed to supporting a remote workforce in the short-term. Long-term we do have new modern offices in the centre of Leeds, UK so there will be an option to work in an office-based environment as well but for these roles, we are offering flexibility around remote working either full time or part-time remote.

The only stipulation is that candidates must be based within the UK.
