Ohio University is hiring a

Web Developer/Designer

This position is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining University web sites that comply with branding standards, accessibility guidelines, and usability guidelines set forth by the University.

Using HTML, CSS, SQL and PHP, the successful candidate will work with team members and customers to identify project requirements, assist with technical design, implementation, and maintenance of websites and website features.

Demonstrated expertise in both web design and front-end development are required.

Primary accountabilities include:

  1. Front End Web Development – Provides design and front end code for website projects that demand new or unique design outside of the existing web design elements. Creates new element design and CSS that meets brand standards and client needs.
  2. Content Management System Optimization – Writes, documents, and maintains custom modules and elements in compliance with Drupal best practices. Makes improvements to CMS with the goals of enhancing editor experience and improving the front-end site performance and technical SEO.
  3. Web Design and Implementation – Provides suggested design for sites utilizing existing CMS elements and works with web content team and web editors across campus to implement and publish approved designs.
  4. Information Architecture and User Testing – Supports the creation of information architecture documents as needed for new web projects in partnership with web content experts. Designs, implements, and analyzes user tests as needed to test user experience of new and existing sites
  5. Project Management – Provides project management for design and development projects as assigned, including working with campus clients to define needs and goals and present technical solutions to meet those goals. Participate in requirements gathering sessions for digital projects, including working with campus clients to define needs and goals and present technical solutions to meet those goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, graphic design, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also satisfy the degree requirement.
  • At least three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Experience using HTML, CSS, Web Content Management Systems required, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.
